Somatic You Course – Content

Come into a state of being with Qigong. This video course explores somatic movement, breathwork and the mind body connection. Each lesson is a combination of Qigong movements taken from the Taoist Ba Duan Jin / 8 Pieces of Brocade along with seated breath work practices. Each lesson has two halves, 1) Qigong movements, and 2) seated stillness practice. The first four lessons are timestamped and can be split down into two thirty minute sessions per one hour class. With the last class as a follow along silent practice to move, breathe and feel.

Lesson 1. The Body (58 mins)

Somatic movement practice starts with exploring the soft tissues, from your muscles, membranes, connective tissues, ligament, tendons and fascia. To feel somatically into your embodied awareness.

Lesson 2. The Breath (1 hour 14 mins)

An essential part of somatic practice is breathwork. The quickest way to down regulate from a heightened state. This lesson explores state shifting through breathwork.

Lesson 3. Deeper Interactions (1 hour 6 mins)

This lessons explores our embodied awareness, the interactions between the muscles and membranes, and how we can release on a deeper level. Through both conscious relaxation and progressive relaxation. Teaching the tissues how to release what is binding them.

Lesson 4. Acceptance (1 hour 9 mins)

Focusing on movement and breathwork to come home to our natural state of being. Learning to soften within adversity, to a space where we can just be. Fostering the absence of resistance.

Lesson 5 – Reunion (23 mins)

Taoist Ba Duan Jin routine performance. A silent flow to explore body, breath and state. To return to a natural state of being and reconnect with your authentic self.
