Learn Tai Chi on the Isle of Wight
Come along to our weekly evening classes in Newport and learn the traditional Chen Tai Chi syllabus in a friendly and welcoming community class. We train loosening exercises, standing practice, silk reeling exercises and the Tai Chi form. Develop posture and alignment awareness, movement choreography, Tai Chi principles and breath work. Instructor Nicola will guide you through the class with in-depth instruction, feedback and adjustments to help you learn, develop and digest the traditional practices. This class welcomes all levels practising and learning together, join anytime.

Day: Thursdays.
Until 14 November – Time: 7.00pm – 8.00pm.
From 21 November – Time: 6.00pm – 7.00pm.
Upcoming Dates: 7, 14, 21, 28 November, and 12, 19 December.
No Class:Â 31 October, 5, 26 December, 2 January 2025.
Lesson:Â Chen Tai Chi.
Content: Learn the traditional Chen Tai Chi syllabus with loosening exercises, standing practice, silk reeling exercises and form training.
Cost: ÂŁ8 per class
Payments: On the day. Cash or contactless credit/debit card via SumUp.
Format: Drop-in, pay as you go.
Suited To: Students must have the physical ability to stand, step and move around slowly for the duration of the class. This is not a seated class or suitable for students who live with complex health needs. Please see our Hibernating Bear classes for all abilities.

Location: Main Hall, Victoria Recreation Ground Pavilion, Recreation Ground Road, Newport, PO30 5AH.
Directions: Within the recreation ground, head to the left side of the pavilion, the entrance is via the doors into the brown building.
Parking: There is a main car park outside the pavilion, with an overflow car park down the lane.
Medical History: As with all medical conditions, injuries and/or ill-health, please consult with your Doctor prior to starting a class. Tai Chi, Qigong and Meditation are not a replacement for conventional medical treatment. Please advise instructor Nicola prior to class of any medical conditions, injuries and/or ill-health that may prevent you from safely taking part.
