Instructor Nicola of Earth Balance Tai Chi teaches Chen Tai Chi, Qigong, Hibernating Bear and Taoist meditation across the Isle of Wight. Mondays 12pm - Qi Gong

Join our Qigong classes on Monday lunchtimes in Ryde. Learn the ancient art of integrated body movements, embodied awareness, structural efficiency, energetic sensitivity, somatic relaxation and breath work. Where slow movement meets mindfulness.

  • Day/Time: Mondays at 12.00pm - 1.00pm.
  • Upcoming Dates:  3, 10, 17, 24 June, 8, 15, 22, 29 July, and 5, 12 August 2024.
  • No Classes: Bank holiday Mondays and Monday 1 July.
  • Cost: ÂŁ9 per class.
  • Advance Bookings Only: Booking essential, this class is not a drop-in.

  • Number of Students: Limited to 8 places. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
  • Level:  Everyone welcome. No experience needed.
  • Studio Etiquette: Indoor shoes, socks or barefoot only in the studio please.

  • Parking: Free on street parking directly outside (unlimited on clinic side and 4 hours on opposite side). Further free on street parking in the surrounding residential areas. The Co-op car park is free for 1 hour and ÂŁ2.40 for 2 hours.

Tuesdays 6.30pm - Chen Tai Chi

Chen Tai Chi classes cover the traditional syllabus of silk reeling and form training. Develop posture and alignment awareness, movement choreography, Tai Chi principles and breath work. All levels practising and learning together, new beginners welcome, join anytime.

  • School Gates Code: The school gates are locked. You will need to use a code to open the gate. Please contact Nicola by email, phone or send a WhatsApp message to 07586 591 813 ahead of your first class to receive the code.
  • Directions once through the Locked Gate: Enter through the gate to the right of the inner car park barrier. Follow that building line on the right down a path until you reach a corner. There are signs on the wall opposite and the wall on the right with "PREP years 3-6" written on. These are arrows to the Prep School Hall. Turn into the alley on the right and head for the building entrance, it's a curved bay front with double doors. Also see the photographs in the gallery.
  • Parking: Limited visitor parking to the front of the school. On street parking in the local area, that is free after 6pm.

Wednesdays 10.30am - Tai Chi & Qigong

Chen Tai Chi and Qigong movements to promote health and wellbeing. To calm the mind, strengthen the body and nourish through breath. All levels practising together, new beginners welcome, join anytime.

  • Day/Time: Wednesdays at 10.30am - 11.30am

  • No Class: 7 August.

  • Directions: Come through the main doors on the High Street, walk to the back of the space, where there is a partition wall with a door into the back studio.
  • Parking: On street short stay in the surrounding roads via app or pay and display. Lugley Street pay and display car park is a short walk away from the venue, the address is 55 Lugley St, Newport PO30 5HA.

Wednesdays 6.45pm - Chen Tai Chi

Learn the traditional Chen Tai Chi syllabus with loosening exercises, standing practice, silk reeling exercises and form training.  All levels practising together, new beginners welcome, join anytime.

  • Day/Time: Wednesdays at 6.45pm - 7.45pm.
  • Upcoming Dates: 4, 11, 18, 25 September. October and ongoing dates TBC.

  • Cost: ÂŁ8 per class (cash or contactless credit/debit card).

Outdoor Private Tuition

For those looking for a 1-2-1 personal Tai Chi or Qigong training session. Instructor Nicola offers outdoor training local to Ryde and across the Isle of Wight. Learn traditional movements in a private class, where you will receive in-depth instruction, guidance, and support. Whatever your Tai Chi or Qigong movement goals, Nicola will work with you, offering person centred instruction and a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Cost: ÂŁ40 per hour + travel expenses.

Location: Outdoors local to Ryde or island wide.

Studio Private Tuition in Ryde

Learn Tai Chi and Qi Gong in the Ryde studio with instructor Nicola. Open to everyone, all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Whether you are looking to learn the art of progressive relaxation with Qigong, or want to learn traditional Chen Tai Chi forms, or you live with chronic illness and would like to explore the Hibernating Bear programme. Nicola supports you as an individual with a person centred approach.

Cost: ÂŁ48 per hour.
